Ingredients
1cupbasmati rice
1.5cupwater
Salt to taste
Instructions
Wash the rice in cold water until the water becomes clear. This will remove any dirt and excess starch in rice. The rice will not be sticky.
Then drain the rice.
Pour water to a large microwave safe bowl. Add salt and drained rice into it. Mix well.
Place a lid on top of the bowl. Do not close the lid tightly.
Place the bowl in the microwave oven.
Cook on high power (power level 10) for 5 minutes. (The default power level setting is usually high).
The water will start to boil. If it doesn't,continue cooking on high power until it starts to boil.
After 5 minutes, cook for 15 minutes on medium power (power level 5).
Keep it closed for 5 minutes.
Serve hot.
Notes
Do not close the lid tightly as it will explode when the steam builds up inside the bowl while cooking. Refer your microwave manual for adjusting the power level. The boiling time for water depends upon the power capacity of your microwave oven.
