Spicy Ginger-Chilli Prawn Fry, this is my Amma’s recipe. She is a perfect cook. She will prepare tasty dishes from anything in minutes.




This is the best prawn fry I ever tried and is very easy to make with very few ingredients. But there is one thing I don’t like while preparing the prawns / shrimp, the cleaning. This is the most time-consuming process in this preparation. But I don’t care since the curry is excitingly tasty and spicy. So here is my mother’s  super tasty Spicy Ginger-Chilli Prawn Fry recipe.

Spicy Ginger-Chilli Prawn Fry

Make a delicious spicy seafood side dish with prawns. With less effort and handful of ingredients you can prepare this tasty Kerala style spicy Ginger-chilli Prawn Fry

Ingredients

  • 500 g prawn/ shrimp cleaned and deveined
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2-3 green chilli
  • 1 tbsp ginger paste
  • 2 garlic cloves crushed
  • 1 sprig of curry leaves
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp mustard seed
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • In a sauce pan, mix together the cleaned prawns, turmeric powder, salt, ginger paste, crushed garlic, green chilli, half of the curry leaves and water.
  • Cook on medium low heat until half cooked.
  • Remove from heat. Keep aside.
  • Now heat oil in a pan. Crackle the mustard seeds.
  • Fry the remaining curry leaves in the oil.
  • Then add the half cooked prawn curry into the pan, Cook on medium-high heat with stirring until the water evaporates.
  • Remove from heat. Serve warm

Notes

1:Increase or decrease the number of green chilli to your taste.
 The Spicy Ginger-Chilli Prawn fry is a great side dish with a main course meal. This also makes a great starter.
