I hoped to share our traditional Maundy Thursday pancake recipe today. But along with the beautiful spring, flu season is also here and we all were caught up in it. Maybe I will do that some other time. And today we will make an easy and yummy candied plantain dessert for Easter.
Since it is super simple, you can make it any time (not just Easter). Two weeks back, I posted a sweet caramelized orange syrup recipe. This candied plantain dessert is made with the same orange syrup. So if you make the syrup ahead, you can easily prepare this dessert on any special occasion without any fuss. You can also use banana instead of plantains to make the dessert. I got this recipe from a native cooking magazine some years back. That recipe used bananas to make the dessert.
The dessert can be served warm or cold. We finished the candied plantains within minutes even though it was warm. So if you are looking for a new vegan or gluten-free dessert recipe for this Easter, try this delicious sweet. The kids will love every bite of this. Adults will enjoy it. And you… You as a cook will be satisfied to serve a healthy and light dessert for your loved ones.
