Ok, this year no red color for valentine’s day……. The passionate and youthful ORANGE is my valentine color and also it’s a healthy orange colored sweet….. The vibrant color, Orange is believed to be the color of passion and enthusiasm…. An orange color flower is believed to deliver the message ” I need you in my entire life” to your valentine. I guess, an orange sweet will also convey the same message.
Valentine’s day is a wonderful day and must be sweet, definitely. Today, I’m going to share with you an easy valentine sweet recipe which requires very few ingredients, Carrot Orange Halwa Heart, a sweetheart.
Carrot Halwa is one of the healthy Indian desserts, almost everyone is familiar with. I just made it more delicious adding an orange. Also, a slight change in the flavor made it a wonderful dessert. Usually, carrot halwa is flavored with cardamom. I used cloves and orange zest in addition to cardamom which delivered a refreshing and delicious new sweet, Carrot Orange Halwa Heart.
We made the halwa in a heart shape. What can be a better gift than a heart, an orange heart, on valentine’s day. The recipe for our Carrot Orange Halwa Heart is below.
Carrot Orange Halwa Heart
- 3 cups of carrot grated
- Pulp of 1 orange
- 1 tbsp orange zest
- 2 cups of milk
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2.5 tbsp ghee clarified butter
- 8 cardamom
- Powdered pistachio to garnish
Powder the cardamom and cloves. Keep aside.
Heat 2 tbsp ghee in a non-stick or ceramic coated pan.
Add the grated carrot, orange pulp and orange zest into the hot ghee.
Mix well and cook on medium-low heat for 15 minutes with occasional stirring. This will help to remove the raw taste of carrot.
Once the carrot is cooked, add milk into it.
Stir well and again cook on medium-low heat for another 15-20 minutes or until all the milk is completely absorbed.
Now add the sugar into the cooked carrot-milk mixture.
Mix well. The mixture will again become watery.
Cook for another 15 minutes or until the sugar syrup is absorbed and halwa is thick without any water.
Now remove from heat. Add the remaining ghee, powdered cardamom-clove mix into the halwa and mix well.
Keep it aside until warm enough to handle.
Take a little halwa mix and make it into heart shape using a heart shaped cookie cutter.
Garnish the top of the heart with powdered pistachios.
2: You can use sugar substitutes for the sweetness.
Caring for your loved one is the most wonderful gift you can ever give them.
I will never say, ‘Don’t buy chocolates’. Of course you can have chocolates on valentine’s day.
My question is, “Why only chocolates?”. Take a little of your time, make a delicious sweet and gift your loved ones. They will be happy which will make you happy.
Happy Valentine’s day, Celebrate with lots of love……and
