You can make it a vegan dish if you avoid ghee and use any cooking oil. You can also use butter instead of ghee. Moreover, make it your own if you would like egg or veggies in it.

Spicy Fragrant Rice Pilaf
Ingredients
- 3 cup basmati rice cooked
- 1/2 of a small onion thinly sliced
- 1.5 tbsp ghee clarified butter
- 2 cardamom crushed
- 1 tsp fennel seed
- 1 cinnamon stick 1-inch
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Heat ghee in a non-stick or ceramic pan.
- Add the spices (cloves, cardamom, fennel seed, cinnamon) into the hot ghee.
- Stir well until you feel a spicy aroma.
- Now the sliced onion and salt. Mix well and saute until it starts to brown.
- Add the rice and black pepper. Mix gently.
- Let it cook on medium-low heat for 2 minutes.
- Remove from heat.
- Serve hot.
