Summer is going to be hotter it seems. We need to drink lots of water to keep going. And that’s why today I came up with a homemade drink – Candied Orange seltzer. Although pure plain water is always the best choice for a healthy hydration, it should always be not. Sometimes it could be your favorite flavored drink. As long as we are drinking water in any form, we are hydrating our body.
Two months back I posted the recipe of caramelized orange syrup ( recipe here ) . The syrup is purely vegan and is made with just three ingredients. And today, we are going to make a orange soda drink with that syrup. You can make the syrup ahead and store them in the refrigerator. So whenever you feel like having a refreshing drink, you can mix it with water or carbonated water (soda) to enjoy a summer drink.
The homemade orange seltzer is not made with any artificial flavor or color. The drink is made with real oranges. The caramelization of sugar helps to enhance the color of the drink. If you are worried about the word ‘sugar’, you don’t have to. It’s you who is making it. You can add more or less sugar you want.
The only thing you should be worried about while drinking a flavored seltzer or any soft drinks is to take care of the teeth. They contain acids and sugar that could damage the teeth enamel. The solution is ‘wash your teeth after drinking any flavored carbonated drinks ‘ like these.
Let’s now make the candied orange seltzer.
Homemade Orange Seltzer
- 1/4 cup Caramelized Orange Syrup (recipe link in instruction)
- 2 cup cold Seltzer ( or carbonated water )
Mix together orange syrup and seltzer in a pitcher and stir well with a spoon.
Transfer to a glass and enjoy.
If you want a sweeter drink, you can add sugar.
Instead of cold seltzer, you can ice cubes to make a chilled drink.
The syrup can be made with any orange.
